Chasing Streetcars

I have distinct memories from my daily walks around the city and this has stuck with me for years. Walking down St.Charles I normally stop to see the beads hanging from the trees on the parade route, the mansions I dream of walking through, the streetcar buzzing by with the same sound it has for 100 years.
I saw three kids on bicycles laughing and seriously trying to chase down the streetcar. Who doesn’t love a race, the streetcar driver even got into it. It’s my favorite memory on the Avenue and boy do I have memories on the Avenue. My children still chase the streetcar or bus on foot for the entire block now, because of this day.
